Bins & Recycling
All general rubbish is collected every Monday & Friday from the black bin outside your Lodge. Please make sure that your waste and recycling are kept separate, with recycling going in the clear bin liners provided under the sink. If you wish to take any recycling to the recycling area yourselves, you will find this located on the park map given to you on arrival.
Please do not leave any bin bags outside the bins for the seagulls to attack.
BBQs
Contact the Office to request your BBQ and Utensils and we will install it on your patio. We do not keep them in situ so they stay protected and clean.
Heating
Cove Lodge: The heating can be adjusted using the control panel located on the wall in the hallway near the main bathroom by pressing the arrows either up or down. The valves on the radiators within the property can also be used to alter the temperature.
Little Lodge: The boiler is in the cupboard next to the kitchen sink. Pull down the white panel at the bottom and you can set the heating to On, Timed or Off using the switch that is at the bottom right of the big dial. If using timed, you can then set when you would like the heating to turn on and off. Each small switch equals 15 minutes. The heating for each room can then be controlled using the dials on the radiators.
Music
Music can be played through the Bose Bluetooth speaker located in the living area next to the sofa. In order to use the speaker, first press the power button to turn it on. Then on your mobile device, turn on the Bluetooth feature and select “Bose Mini II SoundLink”. It will now be ready to play music.
Hot Tub (Cove Lodge)
If you would like to use the hot tub, please be aware that you do so at your own risk and we ask you to follow this guidance:
- Please ensure you shower before you get in the hot tub.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- When you remove the lid from the hot tub, please ensure the lid is secured from being blown away in the wind (especially if it is not actually on the hot tub!). When you have finished using the hot tub please ensure you replace the lid.
- There is a floating chlorine dispenser which stays in the hot tub, when it is not in use. Please ensure you remove this before getting in; and put it back in when you are not using the hot tub.
- One of our team will visit the hot tub at 11:00 each day to check the chlorine levels and they will let themselves in via the side gate. These checks shouldn’t take long, but please wait half an hour before using the hot tub.
- To turn the bubbles on, please press the bubble button to start and press and hold the bubble button for a few seconds to switch off.
- There is a drinks holder beside the hot tub and we have provided some re-usable ice-cubes in the freezer to place in the drinks holder. We have provided plastic glasses for use in the hot tub.
- Please ensure that you comply with the Estates noise curfew, even when using the hot tub and are quiet by 23:00.
Dishwasher
Cove Lodge: The dishwasher is located in the kitchen between the sink and the fridge/freezer. When you open the dishwasher, you will see a control panel situated along the inside top rim of the door. Press the button on the far left side of this panel to turn the appliance on and then press the ‘P’ button on the right hand side to choose which cycle you wish to use (P5 Normal, P3 Delicate etc.). Then press the reset button. A dishwasher tablet can be found in the cupboard to the left of the appliance underneath the sink and should be placed in the left slot on the inner side of the dishwasher door. Once the door is closed, the cycle will begin.
Phone Signal
You may have some issues with your mobile phone signal due to our remote location. In certain conditions you may even pick up some French call roaming! We suggest you set you phone to Wi-Fi calling and if necessary you can use the iPad, to communicate using FaceTime.
TV
Cove Lodge: Please ensure the TV is turned on. The guide button on the remote control can be used to change the channels. In order to use the DVD player, make sure it is turned on and turn the TV to the HDMI1 setting, again using the source button on the remote control.
Little Lodge: Please ensure that both the TV and Freeview box are turned on. The TV needs to be in HDMI1 setting which can be found by pressing the source button on the middle left hand side on the TV remote control. The guide button and the arrows on the Freeview remote control can then be used to change the channels.
Safety
Please ensure that every guest staying in your Lodge is familiar with the fire safety and escape route information available in each bedroom on arrival.
Estate Staff
You may see our maintenance team occasionally working around the grounds but they will leave you in peace. Staff are identifiable by Penn Castle logos or name badges on their tops. Every Monday you will also see our gardeners from Xscapes working around the garden but again they will not disturb you.
Bathrooms
Please note that all waste runs to a pit at the bottom of the park and therefore our bathroom facilities can only accept toilet tissue. Please use the bins provided for any sanitary items, wet wipes or nappies and do not put anything else, such as disposable dish cloths, down the toilet.
Damages
We want you to enjoy the Lodge and feel completely at home. We understand that during your stay some items will suffer usual wear and tear and there may be the odd broken glass or two. Please let us know immediately if an accident does happen or something isn’t working as it should. We’d prefer to deal with a problem quickly so that you are not inconvenienced.
Covid-19
Things look a little different around the Estate at the moment in order for us to comply with the current COVID-19 government guidance. This includes a slightly reduced kitchen inventory and the removal of some of our soft furnishings and throws. We have also provided hand sanitiser and disposable hand towels in all communal bathrooms along with additional cleaning products for you to use during your stay. We encourage guests to share information with us to help manage the risk of contagion. It is especially important that all guest and visitor information is shared with us in case it is later required for any Track and Trace requests.
If any guests do develop symptoms of COVID-19 during your stay, then we ask that you please notify staff immediately via phone or email and return home.
